Gina’s Cafe-Cardiff

1

A small cafe, in a tiny corner on Castle Road facing Cardiff Castle … You’ll find Gina’s cafe. It’s blue colour will attract your eye and the seating inside will blow your mind. So beautiful and colourful, you’ll want to stay there forever and eat Chapati all day long.

Yes, this tiny cafe, is an Indian one that serves Indian food, and some Arabic dishes also. They have Arabic coffee which I haven’t tried, but maybe next time when I’m in Cardiff.

I tried the Karak and cheese chapati. Loved everything. highly recommended.

Caerphilly Castle-Caerphilly Town

1

One of the most amazing places that I’ve visited in my last vacation last summer was Caerphilly Castle, located in Caerphilly two which is just 20 minutes away from Cardiff by train.

The town isn’t big at all, it’s a small country town that has less cars than other towns, small shops and cafes, not to mention a cute city centre.

The people there are very friendly and they know each other, you see them walking in the streets (few streets not many) saying hi to each others, and even in cafes. Everybody knows everybody.

Now, the castle isn’t far, it’s in the middle of the city centre, you can reach by walking 10 minutes from the train station. It’s beautifully designed and located on an artificial lake which I loved walking by and exploring the whole place. You’ll definitely fall in love with the structure of the place and the amazing flowers.

When we went there, it was raining and they were preparing for a special event, I believe it was a wedding if I’m not mistaken. Totally worth it.

Loved the place.

Cardiff Bay-Roald Dahl Plass

1

I think I’ve neglected this blog for a while because I was spending my time on the book blog more. And I totally forgot to finish writing and posting about my summer vacation in Cardiff.

Well, one of the place that I’ve visited was Cardiff Bay, which is 25 minutes away from Cardiff Centre by boat. Yup, Juju and I took the boat from the river off to Cardiff Bay. We enjoyed our journey in the river starting from Bute Park.

The weather was awfully cold and the wind was very high but we managed to dress comfortably and to our surprise the weather in Cardiff Bay was much better than in the Centre.

So you might ask, what is there in Cardiff Bay? Well, basically it has restaurants, cafes, bars (not for us) and a huge theatre where they have amazing plays and musicals. And every now and then in the middle of the place they celebrate something. To our luck they were celebrating Roald Dahl’s Birthday and the place was full of games and activities for the kids. Jana enjoyed her time to the max, we went there twice and she broke my wallet 😛 for the games weren’t that cheap. Like each game would cost 2 or pounds which is around KD1.

I’ll let you enjoy the pictures. It was a great place to visit.

Science Cream-Cardiff

1

One of the most delicious ice cream places in Cardiff. Located in Castle Arcade. I came upon this place by accident. I was walking with Jana exploring the arcades in the area and then I saw this small ice cream place. Beautifully decorated in a very simple way to give you the feeling of a science lab.

The flavours and toppings change every now and then so I want to try as much flavours as I can before I go back home. We tried the Brown Butter Caramel with Caramel topping and Rainbow Pretzel and we LOVED it. I can’t tell you how delicious it was. We came later and tried something with Raspberry or Coconut I can’t remember exactly but it wasn’t as good as the caramel one. So we went for the 3rd time and had the Caramel AGAIN 😀

I also tried the Hot Chocolate with Toasted Marshmallows, it was good but very heavy and their Flat White was really good.

DELICIOUS.

Cardiff Castle-Part 3

1

This is the last part of Cardiff Castle in which you’ll see the beautiful Drawing Room that is filled with paintings of some of the great men of Bute family. In this room, women used to enjoy their time painting for they had almost nothing to do except waiting and other stuff which I forgot what they were 😛

After that you’ll see the amazing Library which i fell in love with its decoration and structure. I tried toughing one of the books to see if they were real but i couldn’t tell and I was afraid to do further exploration for i might do some damaging.

Then we take a look at the castle from the outside and we go up to The Roman Keep which is basically an empty circle that has narrow steps which takes you up to Wales flag. I went up but not to the flag, but my brother did and he said the view was amazing from the top.

Bute Park-Cardiff

1

This park is named after the Bute family who were the richest family in Cardiff and owned Cardiff Castle in the past. The park is huge and it looks like a forest with all the huge trees in it. It’s part of Cardiff Castle but has its own separate entrance.

I took Juju there many times to enjoy some activities while enjoy the greens, the river and the amazing weather. She loves it there and always asks me to go to the park everyday.

It has 3 cafes. One of them is the Pettigrew Tea Rooms and there two others, the Secret Garden and Summerhouse Cafe. I tried the Pettigrew one and Summerhouse but not the Secret Garden which I will in the upcoming days.

The park is big and kids can do so many things. It over looks the Taff river and it has a River Bus stop that takes you to Cardiff Bay which we have used twice and enjoyed a lot.

Cardiff Castle-Part 2

1

In this post, I’ll show you more of the rooms of the castle that are kept locked and only house tour holders can have a look at these rooms.

You can see the Family History Room which is HUGE, as in really huge with long table and the amazingly decorated ceiling, it’s just marvellous.

Also, you’ll see the 3rd marquess bedroom which I thought was beautiful decorated with angels to protect him from harm. Then there’s the Rooftop garden which looked so beautiful but without greens. There were pictures showing you how it would have looked like in the past. And the last couple of pictures are for the dining room which was so dull from my point of view.

My Cookie Dough-Cardiff

1

One of the places that I’ve discovered while I’m in Cardiff is My Cookie Dough which I came its pictures on instagram under #cardiffshopping for I was looking for something specific and found this place. Guess what? It has been infant of my own eyes for several days and I didn’t notice it at all.

Every morning I go to St. David’s Shopping Centre either for shopping or for food, but never noticed this, so when I saw its picture I couldn’t wait till next morning. Early in the morning, I went around 9:45 am and it was just Jana and I 😀

I asked for the White Chocolate Cookie Dough with Raspberry sauce. They have 3 or 4 flavours I guess but you know, I like anything with Raspberry. The lady who served us was very generous and put extra vanilla ice cream for us. It was heavenly delicious, we loved it. We went there again and tried the Peanut Butter Cookie Dough with Chocolate sauce and it was even better.

If you’re in Cardiff or planning to go there then you must try this place.

Cardiff Castle-Part 1

1

Last weekend, we dropped Cardiff Castle a visit and it was amazing 🙂 We loved the whole trip to this place which turned out to be huge unlike what it seemed to be. We got there early in the morning around 9:30 am on a Saturday to avoid the crowd and I believe we were the first ones to be there. We bought the House Tour ticket because some rooms are locked and opened only for House Tour holders beside we had a great guide who gave us a brief history about each room.

Seeing the castle from the inside with all the corridors, hallways and narrow stairs was really amazing. I felt as I was in The Game of Thrones or Outlander 😛

You can read more about the castle as I’m don’t have the time to write that much of information. In this post you’ll see photos of The Winter Smoking Room where men used to enjoy smoking in winter in this room after finishing their lunch/dinner and also you’ll the The Nursery Room which belonged to the four children of the family and had beautiful drawings on the wall of so many fictional characters.

Pettigrew Tea Rooms-Cardiff Castle

1

A couple of days ago, the weather was really beautiful and cold a bit. I wanted to visit Pettigrew Tea Rooms but the non-stop rainy weather didn’t let us have a nice walk. It’s located in Bute Park just after Cardiff Castle, which is a 10 minutes walk from where I’m staying (The Hayes). Didn’t have difficulty in finding it, as it is situated on the road, so easy to find.

There is a small entrance for the small Tea Room and there’s the bigger entrance just from the Bute Park entrance which we used. I wanted to sit outdoors as it’s not every day you get this weather especially knowing that i’ll get back to the hottest climate on earth soon, so I wanted to get enough cool weather 🙂

I got the poached eggs with salmon on brown toast and black coffee. The presentation was very simple yet so elegant, i loved how everything was so simple yet beautiful and stunning. The view I had while having this dish was beyond amazing, surrounded by greens everywhere and huge trees like you’ve never seen before. I’ll go again to Bute Park and take more photos of the place.

This small place is highly recommended. You MUST eat there and I suggest you have your breakfast. I might go an afternoon tea to try the scones and mini sandwiches.

Cadbury World-Bournville

1

So currently, we are enjoying our vacation in the UK, exactly in Cardiff. It’s a beautiful city which I’ll talk about later after I finish exploring it. But now let me tell you more about our first trip.

Jana & I arrived to Cardiff on Saturday 23rd of July and on the same day we booked our tickets to Cadbury World with my brother on the 24th. We took the train to University and then to Bournville . The Factory is just 10 minutes walk from the station. We arrived a little bit early, our tour was supposed to start at 1:50pm so we had 30 minutes to have a quick bite because the journey from Cardiff to Bournville was really long, around 2hrs 15 minutes.

The place is huge, the tour took around 2 hrs inside the factory, after they scanned our tickets, they gave each one of us 3 bars of Cadbury chocolate, even Jana who entered for free because she is under 4.

After that the tour started, we walked inside a Cacao jungle to explore the history of how chocolate came to Bournville. After that we went inside a small theatre where we saw a short movie about the establishing of Cadbury brothers, after that another theatre but with small 4D effects on how Cacao is made, which was a lot of fun.

After that we got inside the factory and it was really hot, and it was not allowed to take photos. After that we took the ride which was fun and Jana enjoyed a lot.

We went inside another part of the factory where they made beautiful chocolate and gave us a lot to try and eat. Sugar overdose hehe 🙂

After that we went outside behind the factory where Jana enjoyed playing in the huge playground and then we got inside the 4D cinema which was lots of fun, everybody has to finish their journey in this place, it’s a must.

Crowne Plaza Althuraya City Experience

1

I was offered a short stay from the Marketing staff of Althuraya City Crowne Plaza to try The Royal Suite, services, Silk restaurant, the spa and other facilities. This was supposed to happen back in April but for some matters it didn’t happen. But, fortunately I was able to go there last weekend (Friday) and I had to say that i had one of the best weekends ever; from pampering to delicious food etc.

Crowne Plaza has been renovated to a more chick and elegant hotel. It’s more modern and filled with sunlight, unlike the old one. This one is more relaxing, quiet and filled with serenity. I liked the design of the lobby and the restaurant.

We arrived there around 12:40pm, the reception asked us to wait for a while. After few minutes our Royal Suit was read *dances*. I have to say that the room was really really big, I didn’t expect it to be that BIG. It contains; one business room, dining room open to the living room which is larger than my own apartment hehe 😛 There’s also a toilet for guests, kitchen, then a dressing room leads to the main bedroom and inside the bedroom there is one of the best bathrooms I’ve ever seen; all black and gold, 2 sinks, jacuzzi, huge shower place and separate toilet. All toilet stuff are from Bulgari, just amazing.

When we went inside the room, we found delicious dates covered with chocolate and pistachio waiting for us yum yum and also there were 2 trays, one filled with mini desserts and the other one filled with finger food *yumminess* We munched on them all day long.

We really enjoyed our time watching TV, surfing the net, ordering coffee and desserts. I have to say that it took them a while to bring the Turkish Coffee but they’ve actually informed us that it will take this certain time to arrive which is acceptable. I liked this about them, giving their guests a timing for their order.

Loved my stay…Posts will be coming about Silk restaurant and Aquatonic Spa.
