One of the places that I really wanted to try in my short stay in Mumbai was The Bombay Canteen restaurant. The place isn’t easy to find, taxi drivers might get lost, so get your map on your phone ready to show them the way. And even when you reach the place, taxis aren’t allowed to enter, so you have to do a little bit of walking which we didn’t mind at all.
From the outside the place looks small, but from the inside it’s really wide and it has many tables for busy days/nights. We went there between 3pm and 6pm where they serve light menu. Lunch is between 12 and 3pm and dinner is after 6pm. I was kind of disappointed because I wanted to try their famous dishes but we ended trying delicious dishes.
We ordered the Banghali Pav and the Beef Wrap, along with Seafood Salad. All dishes turned out t be amazing, especially the Seafood Salad.
The service was amazing, really great waiters and very friendly. They’d explain to you every dish because they know you’re a tourist and want to know more.
A must try when in Mumbai.
One of the places that was on my list-to-visit is Elephanta Island. It’s a place of worship that is located inside 5 caves in an Island called Elephanta.
We took the morning ferry from Gateway of India which was 5 minutes walk from our hotel The Taj Palace and hopped in immediately. We got the ferry tickets from men selling them while you are being checked for security purposes.
The ferry ride took around 1hr and 15 minutes. And a lot of walking was ahead of us. As we were walking, you get to meet villagers or local people selling some food and stuff.
When you get closer to climbing the stairs of the mountain you’ll find so many small shops/kiosks/tables on your left and right where people sell so many goods. The way up to the caves is very tiring, at first you’re excited you won’t feel a thing but later on you’ll start to get tired. You’ll find restaurants up there if you want to rest later on.
We reached the place and booked tickets for the caves. The place was really huge and looked amazing. Loved every bit of it and how all these statues were carved on the walls of the caves from the inside.
The first cave is the biggest one, cave number 2,3,4, and 5 were okay.
It was totally worth it.
I just came back from Mumbai last week and I have to say that it won’t be my first and last visit. I loved the city very much and fell in love with its people and noise. The streets and lights are just so beautiful.
Even though it’s crowded and the beggars are very annoying, still, I loved it and would go back again if I had the chance to.
We stayed in Taj Palace Hotel located in Colaba. The hotel is really amazing and the location is more than great. So many markets and shops are minutes away by walking.
I didn’t go to many places because my stay was only for 3 nights, but I have to say it was more than enough in Mumbai. My next visit I’ll go to Delhi, Jaipur, Udaipur and Kashmir. Those cities are rally beautiful and worth the visit.
In Mumbai, we went to Crawford Street where we bought great Indian spices. Highly recommended.
I took pictures here and there from my short trip to Mumbai which I’ll share them with you in this post. And the next posts will be about Elephanta Island and the restaurants I’ve tried.
I first got this information on whatsapp, & since not everything you receive is true, I had to google it & guess what? It’s true. An Indian Scientist Mohammed Babu attracted the ants by some colorful drops of water & sugar mix after his wife informed that she noticed the color of the ants change to white after drinking milk. He decided to experiment & Voila, colorful ants (mashallah).
I’m so in love with these photos, so colorful & just makes you smile.

Rohit Bal is one of the best Indian Fashion Designers along with Manish Malhotra. He started his career back in 1986 along with his brother. Unfortunately, a couple of months ago, he had a heart attack, so I guess we will not be seeing new designs for a while!
