Movie Review: The Help

The Help is a drama movie based on the novelย The Help. It talks about the black ladies who were being used as maids and how they’re living in hell serving white women. Not all of them ofcourse but many. Starring Emma Stone (Skeeter) Viola Davies (Aibileen), Bryce Dallas Howard (Hilly) and Octavia Spencer (Minny).

I loved the book so much that i couldn’t wait til the movie was out. Hilarious by all means. All actors portrayed their characters perfectly except for Skeeter, wished it was Nicole Kidman but Emma Stone did good. Minny & Hilly drove me to tears from laughter, these 2 characters were really insane.

The movie is a must watch ๐Ÿ˜€

  1. So I guess you watched the movies I gave you yesterday hehe ๐Ÿ˜›

And yeah it was a great movie although I disagree with you in terms of Nicole Kidman being a better Skeeter, what do you want her to be a Grandma?! ๐Ÿ˜›

    • c’mon nicole looks young ๐Ÿ˜› i love her ๐Ÿ˜€

i only watched this, will be watching Breaking Dawn tonight nshallah ๐Ÿ˜‰

I loved the movie! I didn’t recognize that it was the same actress from One Tree Hill at first. She did a great job actually. I kinda agree with Jax, Kidman is too old ๐Ÿ˜›

  4. I wished someone else played the role of Skeeter, but not Nicole Kidman, she’s too old lol .. But the movie was soo good, even better than the book I think, which tended to drag in some parts.

    • oh well okay, everybody seems to be against Nicole as a choice but yeah ti should hv been another actress rather than Emma Stone!

  5. c’mon! this is a great movie! and movies are made to be watched in movie theaters!! or in a 60″ televison set… hehey!! Still, this is a movie to remember! and Nicole Kidman is great an d looks young, I agree… but not as fresh as this character that has just graduated…!! plus, Emma is very, very charismatic! I couldn’t get enough of her! and the same goes to most actresses in the movie! great casting! great directing, great story, great… movie!! damn it!! lol

OUTSTANDING, indeed it is. I am really not a fan of books taken into the silver screen but this sure got me really interested getting my own copy, the story of jews and black slavery of course will always be a sure hit and stories such as these will just have to have a different dress to wear and this one got the best gown indeed, formula: experience~ but of course will never fail you, the concept of real narration from the maids made it so warm and heart breaking that their own experiences in each house hold will definitely pinch your heart as the story goes on, I did cry for like every sob story told and how depressing life could have been if I were in the position of those oppressed, everybody would be able to relate to this for each one of us may have experienced a situation when being you, yourself ~seems to be a big problem for you to run a smooth life. I appreciated the humor and positivity that the black people have, they were in fact a shot of life, a breathe of fresh air with all those white trashy principles of “perfection” that bombard them, the blacks in this picture were framed beautifully that I saw how special and unique their personalities are, happy, creative persevering and name it, they are unsung heroes of the white’s earlier generations. Inequality has always been a constant burn in the universe, the favored and the unfavored, the lucky and the unfortunate, realistic as it sounds that the world is a struggle of the opposites well life will definitely move forward and hopefully soon, all the colors of life from the darkest shade to the lightest will blend to when all is well.
