Naranj Experience

Today, we decided to try a new place, a new cuisine for lunch! I suggested to try out the Syrian Restaurant Naranj located in Olympia Mall. The place was really huge & it had this Syrian atmosphere with mini fountains in the middle, so cute. Once we were seated, the waiter came & opened a bottle of water which we didn’t ask for … I got pissed off because I hate this kind of moves, tricking you to accept the bottle of water when you didn’t even mention it. I asked for the manager & asked him “Is the water complimentary?” He said “No”, “Then why did he open when we didnt ask for it?”. He apologized for what happened & said he should have asked you before opening it!

Now, we come to the food … we had mixed feelings about it. Basically, i liked everything except the Muhammara which tasted weirder than the regular Muhammara … Hubs also didn’t like it plus the Kebba Neyeh which I really enjoyed its taste. But the rest of the food was amazing!

After we asked for the check, they served us a huge tray ful of Syrian desserts & fresh fruit … Nice

A lil bit pricey.

  1. Great pictures, it looks beautiful.
    Miss Blaise

  2. Nice pic’s but the review wasn’t that much you didn’t mention the differences between Syrian food and Lebanese food , The Service . and do you have to make a reservation or not ?

“tricking you to accept the bottle of water” lol that was so funny !! Come on its just a bottle of water,
At least they served you a free desserts & fresh fruit instead ;o)

    • I’m not that of an expert to make comparison between the 2 cuisines, beside this is my first Syrian Restaurant & i’ve only tasted few dishes so there’s no much of a great background!

The service was good beside the bottle of the water! non the less, they should ask us before adding it on the bill coz we’re the ones will be paying for it right? & the complimentary dessert & fruit was at the end & we didn’t know about it which was a nice gesture!

      • Yes first time eating in Syrian restaurant but I am sure you have tried several Lebanese
restaurant before , What I mean is there any specific dishes makes you feel like you are
in Syrian restaurant and aren’t in Lebanese one !
Or are they all the same ?

Your right I guess but since no one have said No to the water I think they assume
all people are happy to get a bottle of water you can simply say ” We didn’t ask for it”

And you haven’t answered my inquiry about if I should book a table or is it fine to go without reservation ?

I think I’m gonna give it a try soon …..

      • no u dont need to reserve, the place is huge, we went in without reservation!

well if u’d ask me, i’d say Lebanese cuisine is my favorite non the less, i’d try more Syrian restaurants!

  3. il photos yithbo7ooon!!

  4. I went there once and did not like it. Bil 3afia anyway (^-^)

  5. Thanks for the pictures, the food looks really good!

  6. Loved your pictures masha2 Allah :)
I loved narenj’s food and ambiance. Sadly their service was horrible everytime I went there and they have clear disrespect for women. If I ask them something they nod and walk away and the thing I ask for never arrives. Happened several times. If my husband asks for anything suddenly its at the table so we figured that I should stay mute if I want an order to arrive and let the man of the house handle our order.

  7. Walla the pics are what made the food look tasty not sure about the place itself bs if I ever get the craving will try it out.

  8. bel 3afya dear :* …re7tla mrten akthar shy 7abeta 3ndhom el-moqablat o sala6at el-bedyan *YUM* ! el-main course mo thak ezod ma 3ada kabab dyay bel moksrat kan latheth !
